Bottom of the page: What makes our program the best.

Ahh...shiatsu® Bar Therapy is a trademarked form of Ashiatsu Bar Therapy. It is based on an ancient ayurvedic practice of Chavutti Thirummal. It combines Swedish, Myofascial, and compression techniques that are applied to the body with the therapist's feet. Thereby, giving the hands and thumbs a rest. Ashiatsu is an art, where the feet glide effortlessly over the contours of the client's body. Special ashiatsu cream formulated by BonVital facilitates the hypnotic movements of the routine. The pressure can be as light as a swedish massage or the deepest massage a therapist can give.

For training purposes, portable bars are provided in class. Bar installation of stationary bars are covered and discussed as part of course. Schematics of the bars come in the course manual. The bars are used for balance and support. You do not have to have a lot of upper body strength to perform Ashiatsu. There are no height or weight restrictions as long as the table can sustain both weight of client and therapist.

Ashiatsu treatments are a more effective application of deep tissue massage. The pressure is constant and evenly maintained. It creates more circulation. More circulation brings about faster healing. Ashiatsu brings about a relaxed state that last for hours after a massage service. Clients don't walk out of a session - they float.

Therapists feel like they have performed a dance instead of a work out. The first deep tissue of the day is as good as the last one. There is none of the usual pain associated with deep tissue massage for therapist or client. This therapy is a more balanced approach to massage. The therapist gains strength, knowledge and grace while adding diversity and vitality to their work day. So you can do more of what you love, forever.

Ashiatsu training is an intensive and fun class dedicated to the preservation of the body worker. Barefoot technique can feel very awkward the first day of training. The second day of training is less awkward and more relaxed. The Ashiatsu manual consists of pictures with descriptions and instructions that cover the entire posterior and anterior routine. A video is viewed as part of the course plan. Most of the training is spent on hands-on application of Ashiatsu technique. Lecture time is spent discussing marketing and contraindications. The last day of the seminar is spent putting the routine together so it flows. A 15 minute practical is performed on the instructor, to fine tune the movements, pressure and placement of the application. The main objective of class is to ensure success of every therapist in the class. We offer a live course as well as a home study.

What make our program the best!

The economy has changed and we have modified and adjusted our program to better fit your needs. This course focuses all of it's time on the hands-on technique of Ashiatsu. We value your time and money and do not spend it on lectures about our founder or on speaking ill of others who practice and teach massage. We do not claim that we own massage or invented it. Massage therapist's are creative intelligent independent free spirited thinkers and we want to keep it that way.  Come join us!

ahh_floor.jpgAhh...shiatsu Floor® is a trademark of Ashiatsu. This new and exciting approach to Ashiatsu massage technique removes the limitation of bars. The bars are replaced by stools. The routine is the same for Ashiatsu Floor as it is for the bars. Making them interchangeable. The client is on a floor mat and the therapist performs the massage either standing or seated on a stool or chair. Ashiatsu cream facilitates the strokes of Ashiatsu Cream provided in class. Bon Vital has formulated a special cream that does not need constant application.

The stools are used for balance and support. There is a 17 inch stool and a 24 inch stool required depending on height of massage therapist. You do not have to have a lot of upper body strength to perform Ashiatsu. The floor training is a bit more challenging than the bar routine. But the floor routine has more options like house calls. Thai massage can be added. No table is needed.
